Last week the temps were in the mid 70’s! Seriously?! In December?! It was the perfect “excuse” to take out the kayaks. Since it was a short trip, I decided to take Chuy along so he could get some practice. Be sure to read our guide: Must Have Gear for Kayaking with a Chihuahua.
We launched out of Owl Creek in Virginia Beach. This opens up to Rudee Inlet which goes right out into the Atlantic. We stayed in the “creek” part since Chuy was with us. I didn’t want to take him out near the ocean. I only like taking Chuy along where the water is calm. You should definitely make sure you’re comfortable kayaking before you introduce it to your dog. The key is start slow!
I’ve had several people ask me if I put a life vest on Chuy. ALWAYS! I would never let him near the water without one!
Here are a few pics and a GoPro video on YouTube of our paddle!
