Apples are good for dogs as they are a healthy and natural dog treat packed with fiber, vitamin A and vitamin C.
Frozen Apple Dog Treat Recipe
I simply adore the Fall season and apples remind me of our anniversary trip to Charlottesville last year when we visited an apple orchard with Chuy. Ingredients You Need
- 2 Apples
- 1 Cup Greek Nonfat Plain Yogurt
- Water
Supplies
- NutriBullet
- Ice Cube Tray
- Measuring Cups
- Knife
- Cutting Board
This recipe makes 16 treats if using a standard ice cube tray.
Instructions – How To Make Frozen Apple Dog Treats
1. Slice 2 apples into small pieces but remove the seeds and the core.
2. Mix the apple slices, yogurt, and a splash of water in your NutriBullet or blender and blend until you get a liquid consistency.
3. Pour the mixture into an ice cube tray and freeze for a few hours or until hard.
The final product should look something like this. I recommend only feeding your dog one “cube” at a time. You can put the left over treats into a Tupperware container and store them in the freezer.
Chuy absolutely loves these frozen apple dog treats! I love making him homemade treats that are healthy and natural. Plus, I love when I know exactly what’s going into his treats which is another reason I love making my own at home.

My dogs love apples, and they love ice cubes so I bet they’d love these. Heck, add a little sugar and I’d probably eat them!

OMG, just found your site via pinterest and am in love. I run a massive bakery for our Humane Society’s annual fundraiser. We have about 10,000 dogs and their owners coming thru. This year was my first year running it and I ran out of doggie treats. I will be spending a lot of time here planning for next year. What a lovely site you have, the layout is gorgeous and your pics are amazing. Loving your doggie. Thank you

Some dogs are sensitive to dairy products. My Chihuahua had to go to the emergency room after drinking milk the first time because she became so constipated. Apples, preferably organic, cut in little pieces are good enough and a much safer choice.
Irresistible Pets says
Oh no 🙁 I’m sorry to hear that. I recommend always checking with a vet before introducing any new food to your dog’s diet.
Matango says
My dog loves plain ice cubes so much I can’t imagine how crazy he would go for these 🙂
Irresistible Pets says
He will definitely loves these!
Natalie says
Would this recipe also work with normal yogurt, not Greek yogurt?
Irresistible Pets says
Yes, you can use plain yogurt but I just prefer Greek yogurt 🙂
Patty says
I add 1/4 C of peanut butter….my doggies LOVE these!
Going to make them with pumpkin today.
Kim says
Finally a homemade treat without peanut butter! My labs love it but I can’t give them much without consequences. Lol! I’m making these today!!
Irresistible Pets says
Glad to hear these will come in handy!

This is fantastic for summer! My Chihuahua loves icecubes when it’s hot, he’ll go crazy over these! Great idea!
If you’re into homemade doggy treats, here’s another very simple recipe:
1 little can of natural tuna
1 egg
4 tablespoons of oatflakes
2 tablespoons of flour (I use spelt flour cause I don’t like wheat, alternatively you can also use corn flour)
some chopped up parsley
finely grated carrots (I use the remainders of my juicer, works perfectly!)
mix it all together, you’ll have a gooey dough. With cold hands make little fingerlong sticks and bake for about 20 minutes at 180°C (350°F)
Irresistible Pets says
Awesome! Thanks for the recipe!

I’m quite sure my wife and I will gobble these up alongside our dog hahaha

I just made this recipe for the first time. My dog eats all these components separately so I knew he’d love it and he’d did. Only problem was, he picked up the whole cube and took it to his “staging area”, where he crunched it down in a couple of bites. This is not exactly the intention of this recipe, so my question is, do you have any suggestions for what I could put this in so he can’t get it out and he has to lick it? Thanks!
Irresistible Pets says
So happy to hear that! Hmm. Maybe make them into smaller cubes?
Karoline says
I must try this recipe asap. Do you think I could use carrots instead of apples?
Irresistible Pets says
I don’t see why not. Chuy loves carrots!
Nadine says
Made these for our dog. I’m sure he’ll love them. Labs eat anything. I wonder tho’ why add water to it to dilute it. If I make this again I will just use regular yogurt and skip the water.
Brenda Herrera says
Hello! I am new to being a dog mom but was wondering what kind of yogurt ( Brand wise) I could use for this recipe? I do want to make all my babies treats homemade and healthy!
Irresistible Pets says
Hi Brenda,
Any brand of yogurt will work. I just like to make sure it is fat free plain greek yogurt.
Vanessa says
Thanks for sharing! Do they keep long?
Irresistible Pets says
They should keep pretty well in the freezer.
Laura M says
So glad I found this! Even I can make these! Do you think I could add mint to the recipe? My dog’s breath is awful — any other suggestions?
Samantha says
Our blender broke in the middle so there is chunks of peel in it haha Laila likes them though, she was sitting in the kitchen the whole time. She got to lick the spoon. I love how easy it is thanks for posting it.
Digitalcowgirl says
added a big spoonful of peanut butter to the mix— and my puppy LOVES these!

Just found your recipes today. My Dachshunds love 🍎 🍎 & yogurt. I’ll have to grab some plain Greek yogurt from the grocery. All I have is Ratio Brand Coconut Yogurt (I checked, it does NOT contain “xylitol”, but don’t want to take any chances.
