Ahoy, me hearties! September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day! To celebrate, I created a DIY no sew pirate costume for Chuy. This doubles as a Halloween costume if you need something in a pinch! If dressing up isn’t your dog’s thing, be sure to check out our DIY Pirate Sock Toy.
Supplies
- Scarf
- Bandanna
- Pirate Pendant
- Rubber Band
- Scissors
Instructions
There aren’t precise instructions for this costume as it depends on the size of your dog. I’ll share with you what I did but just have fun and put your own creative touch on it! I took a red and white striped infinity scarf and cut a piece large enough to fit around Chuy’s body. Then, I cut out some leg holes. To keep your dog from tripping on the fabric, take all of the excess material and tie it under your dog’s belly using a rubber band or elastic hair tie.
To complete the look, I added a skull and crossbones bandanna that I picked up at Wal-Mart for a dollar. To give it some extra flair, I added a pirate pendant that I wore a few years ago when I dressed up as a Wench.
PS – Make sure that the costume fits your dog properly and doesn’t cause them to trip and fall.

Okay, this is adorable. I’d have to make some serious changes for my giants to fit, but I love it!

I cannot find this cute skull bandana! I bought one at a Wal-Mart on the East coast and now I have a second pet in Arizona and would like them to match. Do they still sell it? if not do you know what brand it is so I can get it elsewhere?
Irresistible Pets says
It was a Wal-Mart brand. You might want to try the Dollar Tree. Sometimes they have bandannas too!
