If you’ve been following us here for awhile, you know that I do just about everything with Chuy. It’s almost November and that means Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Gratitude is part of my daily routine but this time of year magnifies and reminds us to be grateful for all of our blessings. I’m beyond grateful for Chuy and all the joy he has brought to my life. I want to tell you about some of the things Chuy and I do together. These are five great ideas that you can do with your dog to share your love with them.
5 Ways to Share the Love with Your Dog
1. Go on Walks with Your Dog
Chuy has made me a more active person that actually loves being outdoors, exploring new places. I love going on walks with him whether it’s just around the block or while exploring a new park together! Walking with your dog forces you to be in the moment…or at least it should! Put your phone away and enjoy the time that you have together. It will clear your head and help you to feel connected with your dog.
2. Kayak with Your Dog
I fell in love with kayaking a few years ago. I immediately knew that I had to take Chuy with me! When my paddle hits the water it’s as if all of my anxiety just floats away. Kayaking and being around the water is my happy place and there’s nothing in the world that compares to sharing that peace with Chuy. Kayking with a dog is a great way to share the love and bond together.
3. Play at the Beach with your Dog
I’m a beach girl from birth and you can never take me away from the coast. I love the beach and so does Chuy! Playing with your dog at the beach is another fun way to bond. We love to go for walks on the boardwalk. We always follow that with a game of fetch on the sand. Now that the weather is not hot, it’s a great time to visit the beach.
4. Cuddling on the Couch
I love being outdoors and doing active things…BUT, I also love me a good Netflix and chill day. Especially on cold and rainy days! Chuy is basically my shadow and follows me all over the house. He also loves a good cuddle session on the couch.
5. Shop with Your Dog
The best part of having a dog is knowing you have a companion to do things with and that includes shopping. There are plenty of dog friendly places to shop including PetSmart. We’ve been shopping at PetSmart literally since the first night we brought Chuy home. I love that he can come to the store with me. It’s fun for me and it helps him with socialization. Our latest visit to PetSmart was to pick up Purina® Pro Plan® Bright Mind®.
None of these activities would be feasible if Chuy wasn’t happy and healthy. He is nine years old and I’m so blessed for all the time we’ve had together and I look forward to many more years. What you feed your pet is so important so that they can live their happiest, fullest life with you. That is exactly why I’ve partnered with Purina® Pro Plan® Bright Mind®. This formula of dog food has enhanced botanical oils shown to promote alertness and mental sharpness in dogs 7+. Purina is backed by 85+ years of research and has been fueling pets since 1986.

Great post and fantastic pics of your outings. We love the beach as well. Just love seeing the pups get their paws wet and their noses sandy.

I’ve got to try kayaking with a dog, it looks like so much fun. But Matilda is kind of… accident prone, I can see her jumping out. Do you know how small a dog has to be for that? I think Cow would enjoy it more.

It is sooo much fun!!! Chuy is about 11 lbs and has never tried to jump out. I actually think the smaller they are the less chance of jumping out. I have a sit inside kayak, so he sits between my legs and has room to go inside the front cabin a bit if it’s too hot. Hope that makes sense!
