Its been an overwhelming couple of weeks with work and Chuys IVDD flare up. The older he gets, the more frequent these flare ups have become. This is just something weve kind of learned to live with but it never gets any easier. It still really hurts to see him in pain.
Chuy had a vet appointment yesterday just to recheck all his IVDD issues and see if he needs a new set of x-rays or MRI. The vet still doesnt think he needs to do that again as it wont really change anything about his diagnosis. He’s doing so much better and we will continue to treat him at home as needed with crate rest and meds. Our greatest challenge at this point is the stairs and the furniture. We try to keep him blocked off to one level of the house only. Hes a Chihuahua though so hes always right next to me like a little shadow. IVDD can be really frustrating for pet parents and its scary. Would you like to see a blog series with some tips on how to handle it?
The anti-inflammatory medication is amazing for his back but it can cause liver issues if used long term. That has really scared me and made me hesitant to use it when needed. The struggle is real yall! He had a full blood panel done yesterday and the vet just called and said all his levels look”beautiful” and healthy! It brought tears to my eyes. I’m so grateful for my boy and his health.
Heres a few pics from our trip to PetSmart a few weeks ago to pick up some dental health treats. You can see the full post here. Dont forget February is Pet Dental Health Month and Valentines Day is this weekend!

remember new readers to your blog won’t know what IVDD is.. so a quick link or explanation of the full term would be helpful π *runs off to look it up*
