Did you know that annual vet checkups are as essential as food and love to your pets? Since 2001, dog vet visits have dropped 21% and cat vet visits have dropped 30%. As a result, we have seen a dramatic increase in preventable diseases in our pets, such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
Before I talk about why annual checkups are so important and how it’s personally impacted my life with Chuy, let’s play some trivia! Click on the green button below to get started!
Annual checkups with your vet are key to creating an irresistible life for your pet. We take Chuy to the vet twice a year for a comprehensive exam. It was at his appointment last December when the vet announced that Chuy was overweight and needed to lose a few pounds. Obesity is a major issue with pets but the good news is that it can be prevented or easily treated. This exam was an eye opener to get Chuy back on track to a healthy lifestyle. Losing weight isn’t just about vanity . . . it’s about preventing diabetes and other obesity related diseases. Just by visiting with our vet at a routine exam has helped to put Chuy back on the healthy track!
I’m excited to say he’s doing awesome and has lost most of the weight already! I see a difference in his energy and he’s got his waist line back! We have our next appointment in two weeks, so I’m anxious to see his results! What a difference 6 months can make!

Love the game, Aimee! We do the yearly visit but always seem to end up at the vet during the year for little things…so, our dogs are well-known at our vet’s office. However, not so much for our kitty. We’re guilty of a yearly check up only and wonder if we shouldn’t be doing twice a year, now that she’s over 8 years old. I’ll have to go to HealthyPetCheckUp.org and see what they recommend.

Thank you, Yvonne! Unfortunately, we end up at the vet’s office in between visits too!

Our adult dogs are going to the vet in August for their rabies vaccination. The puppies go in December for their annual check up. I also like to take them all in 3x a year for a weigh in – no check up, just a weight check to make sure their diet is at the right amount.
