Like most of us, you’re probably on lockdown at home with your dog. To be honest, not much in our day-to-day life has really changed. I’ve been working at home for the past ten years with Chuy. So, while our routine hasn’t changed much, the world has changed drastically and there are some things we’re no longer able to do right now like leave the house and go on some of our adventures.
In this post, I’ve put together some boredom busters for your dog during the lockdown.
Backyard Fetch
Do you have a backyard? If so, have some fun with your dog and play a game of fetch. It’ll help both of you get the blood pumping while getting some Vitamin D. No backyard? Try out a game of indoor fetch or hide and seek.
Brain Games
I’m a big fan of puzzle games for your dog. We have a few that we break out on occasion to play with Chuy indoors when the weather isn’t so great. Puzzles are not just fun but they keep his brain active and young.
Even if you don’t have one of these “official” dog puzzles, you can use a muffin tin and some treats to make a fun game!
Practice Some Tricks
When was the last time you practiced tricks with your dog? Now is a great time to practice old tricks or teach your dog a new one!
Homemade Dog Treats
I love making homemade dog treats for Chuy. Most treats only involve two or three ingredients so it’s super easy and I feel better knowing exactly what I’m feeding Chuy.
Netflix and Chill
The thing about right now is you’re emotions are going to be up and down and that’s ok. Sometimes, you just need a night to Netflix and Chill. I love watching a good movie or crime doc with Chuy curled up in my lap! Check out these awesome dog movies on Netflix. I feel like “Netflix and Chill” has become a generic term just like “Google it.” We love watching Amazon Prime Video and Hulu for streaming too.
What are you doing to survive the lockdown with your dog?
