As you know we love to celebrate holidays around here! The next holiday that just so happens to be right before BlogPaws is Cinco de Mayo! It’s pretty much a national holiday for Chihuahuas, so we HAVE to get in the spirit of things! Here are a few ways to include your pet in the fiesta!
1. Take a Photo Shoot with a Piñata!
What’s cuter than a Chihuahua and a piñata? I’m not really sure there is anything! Take advantage of the holiday by taking a cute photo shoot of your pet and your piñata of choice like Chuy and I did!
2. Get Your Pet a Mini Sombrero
I picked up this mini sombrero during a trip to Texas way before we even had Chuy! It just so happens to fit him perfectly . . . but I’m pretty sure he hates it! Chuy is not a fan of hats but if your pet is, let them celebrate with a mini dog sombrero!
3. Drink Some Margaritas Outside with Your Pet
As in the humans can drink Margaritas outside! Please don’t give your pet any alcohol! Head on outdoors to your backyard or patio, pour a few Margaritas, play some authentic Musica Mexicana and watch your dogs run around the yard. Be sure to put a bowl of water out for them so they don’t get jealous!
4. Go To a Pet Friendly Outdoor Festival
Lots of cities hold dog friendly Cinco de Mayo festivals. Just use good old Google to see if there’s one in your city! I’ve always wanted to go to one of the Running of the Chihuahua festivals that go on this time of year. The closest one to me is in Washington DC, which is about 3 hours away. Maybe next year?
5. Make Some Yummy Cinco de Mayo Treats
While you’re munching away on nachos and tacos, be sure to make some pet friendly treats too! Check out our other Cinco de Mayo post where we feature dog friendly nachos and tacos!
You can also make these adorable Chihuahua cookies for the humans!
