I swear we have only seen the sun a few days over the past couple of weeks. We tried to go for a walk with Chuy Chihuahua at the beach last night and got rained out.
So, on the way home we stopped by the Virginia Aquarium. I love the aquarium and it actually is right next door to the Owl Creek boat ramp where we go kayaking with Chuy. When you’re kayaking you get to see the aquarium from the back and can even see some of the animals from the water. Pretty cool!
Unfortunately, the aquarium isn’t dog friendly but they have an outdoor seal tank that is open to the public.
There was one little seal who was quite active and extremely curious. He came up to the glass and was following Chuy all around every where he walked. It was the cutest thing ever! After all, seals are dogs of the ocean, right?!
Post Update: Once we published this post, the Virginia Aquarium contacted us via Twitter. They said the seal’s name is Rudder and he is just shy of two years old! Rudder was rescued from New Jersey and now calls Virginia Beach home. You can learn more about Rudder the Harbor Seal here.
At first, Chuy really didn’t notice nor did he care! He was too busy sniffing the ground. The pics are little blurry but I thought this was too cute not to share!
You can see in this video that Chuy had no idea he was being stalked by a Harbor Seal!
And then, they locked eyes and gave each other a kiss through the glass! That’s when my heart melted!
