Chuy Chihuahua went back for his 2 week follow-up today. We originally took him in because he was showing the following signs:
- Not interested in his food
- Hiding in the corner
- Abnormal shaking
- Lethargic
The vet determined that his liver enzymes were high. This is not the first time this has happened. It happened prior to his neuter, which caused it to be delayed. We also had to hospitalize him back in December for stomach issues. This is the reason we all should have Pet Insuranceย for our babies! It most concerns me that they don’t know why this is happening. It can be a number of a reasons.
So, they put him on the following routine:
- RX diet of Royal Canine for gastrointestinal issues
- Amoxicillin Drops 2 times per day (antibiotic)
- Denamarin once per day on an empty stomach to treat the liver
He has done a lot better and has only had the weird shakes once or twice. My husband took him back today and they told us to keep up the routine. He will get blood work again on the 30th to compare his results from last month.
I just hope my baby is going to be ok in the long run. We are doing everything we can to be proactive and keep him healthy. We love our little Chi!
Has anyone else experienced this with their fur babies?
