A few weeks ago we spent the day in Hatteras. My parents have a beach home there so I’ve been going since I was a baby. It’s sort of a home away from home! I absolutey love the beach and could never imagine being far away from the coast. There’s nothing quite like the coastal lifestyle! Crabbing is one of my favorite things to do in the Summer here in VA and NC. We decided to see if the crabs were ready to come out and play and Chuy came along for the adventure!
We checked out the marina by the Cape Hatteras ferry called Hatteras Landing. One of the nice girls that worked inside of the Kitty Hawk Kites store told us a good place to crab is right from the docks of the marina. She showed us some spots to try and we set up shop! Chuy kept watch for us on the dock!
I think it’s still a little bit too early for the big blue crabs to be out but it was still fun to try. We didn’t catch much besides these little baby crabs. A few that we caught were so small they fell right through the net! Of course we did not keep them. There are regulations on the size and species of crabs you can keep. This is really important because many of the blue crab population died as a result of a harsher than usual winter.
Chuy’s cousin, Mimi was with us too! How irresistible is that little face?! She is seriously the sweetest dog I’ve ever known! Her and Chuy kept watch for us!
Checking out some of the seagulls!
I saw this dog friendly restaurant called The Wreck Tiki Bar. They don’t open again until May but they have outdoor dog friendly dining and this sign was out front! We have to come back and check them out!

I’m really looking forward to doing some more crabbing this Summer. What are you looking forward to? Any plans for the Summer?

That sounds so fun! I’ve never been crabbing, but I love crabs. I hope we can make a beach trip this summer. We had a blast last year.
