DIY Cat Masquerade Pumpkin

Halloween is my favorite time of the year! My Halloween décor is lot of black, purple, and of course glitter! I wanted to make something this year that I could add to my collection. I recently discovered Martha Stewart Decoupage and knew it would be perfect for decorating some pumpkins! There are so many “Irresistible” things you can make with it and all decoupage formulas are dishwasher safe, machine washable, non-yellowing, dry hard with no tack, and can be used indoors or out!

Halloween has an especially big place in my heart because my husband I were married on 10-30-10. Our reception was a masquerade theme with lots of purple, orange, and pumpkins! This DIY project is sort of a tribute to Halloween and our Masquerade wedding! Plus, if you’re a cat lover you’ll love this idea too! Supplies You Need

Cat Shaped Mask ( I found mine at AC Moore)
Black Craft Pumpkin
Purple Sequins
Silver Glitter
Martha Stewart Metallic Paint in Pure Platinum
Martha Stewart Decoupage – Durable Glitter Finish
Martha Stewart Paint Brushes

Instructions

Apply a thin layer of Martha Stewart Metallic paint in Pure Platinum to the cat mask using a paint brush. Allow the paint to dry. Apply additional coats as needed.

Once the paint has dried, apply a layer of the Martha Stewart Decoupage. I used the Durable Glitter Finish just in case the glitter I apply later falls off. However, you could also use the gloss finish too.

While the Decoupage is wet, sprinkle glitter on top until the entire mask is blinged out! You may need to do this a second or third time depending on how much glitter you want.

Once the glitter has dried, you are going to start applying the sequins to the eye area of the mask. Take a small amount of glue and apply it around the eye area. Gently place the sequins on the glue until you get this effect:

Continue gluing the sequins on until both eyes look something like this:

To apply the mask to the pumpkin, I used the string that came with the mask. It was too small for the size of my pumpkin so it kept popping off. I had another mask that I wasn’t using so I tied the string from that to the string of my cat mask. You may need to add an extender for your string or just hot glue it on the pumpkin.

Once you are done, your masquerade pumpkin should look something like this!
