Chuy is house trained and knows to do his business out in the backyard. . . .most of the time. He will randomly have an accident for no rhyme or reason. The other 90% of the time he will jingle the blinds on the sliding door to let us know to let him out. The main problem we have with Chuys house training (or lack thereof) is when we are in our bedroom at night. Chuy will jump off the bed and wander around the room while my husband and I are asleep. This is also when he will decide to pee anywhere he wants on the carpet. Ugh!
I found out about a new product called DoggieLawn. Its a monthly subscription service where they send you a patch of grass every 2 weeks.
My Experience with DoggieLawn
We initially put the DoggieLawn out on a Saturday afternoon. Chuy was curious because it was something new and he had to investigate. I kept telling him go pee when he would stand on top of the grass but instead he just looked at me like I was nuts and laid down! I guess he really liked the way the grass felt.
I didnt give up hope. The directions that came with the DoggieLawn said to stay consistent and to keep your dog in the area for at least 20 minutes. I was starting to have flashbacks of puppy training . . . but I still didnt give up hope!
We ended up going out of town the next day and returned Monday. By Monday evening, Chuy walked right over to the DoggieLawn, squatted and peed! Chuy was using the DoggieLawn just like it was a pad! Woo Hoo!
DoggieLawn What I Think is Irresistible
Theres a couple of things I really love about DoggieLawn.
1. Chuy never misses when he pees on DoggieLawn. With pads, he often times pees half on the pad and half on the carpet. Ugh.
2. I noticed there wasnt a strong odor with DoggieLawn . . .even though you keep it out for 2 weeks. After one day with the pad, I end up throwing them out because the odor is too much.
3. It looks a hell of a lot nicer sitting on the floor then some dirty pee pad.
DoggieLawn Whats Not So Irresistible
Theres pretty much just one thing about DoggieLawn that Im not so thrilled about.
1. The price. For the small size of grass that Chuy Chihuahua would use it costs $50 per month for the subscription fee. I just cannot justify that in our budget considering Chuy has access to our yard any time he wants, except for bed time. I might have considered this when we still lived in a townhome.
My Recommendation for DoggieLawn
Other than price, I think this is a really irresistible product for anyone that owns a small dog, is puppy training, or lives somewhere without access to a yard. They do make them in a larger size if youre dog is bigger. If you an afford it, then I definitely recommend the DoggieLawn.
