The dog days of Summer are officially here! We’ve put together a free downloadable Summer Bucket List for Pets to help you create an irresistible life!
Life moves way to fast and creating an irresistible life means cherishing the every day moments. I like to live in the moment but having some kind of list ensures that the seasons don’t fly by before we get to do the things we want. It’s already mid July and the Back To School junk is already out. I think the retailers are pushing things earlier and earlier each year! My point is that before you know it, Summer will be over.
Free Download– Summer Bucket List
I’ve created a free downloadable Summer Bucket List for Dogs. Just click the image below and a new window will open with the PDF. You can either keep this as a download on your phone/computer or print it out!
Summer Bucket List for Pets
1.Go to the Beach
Walking at the beach is one our favorite things to do with Chuy. Unfortunately, dogs aren’t allowed on the main beaches here during the summer season. There are some other secluded beaches that we visit but you can only take them after 6pm. That’s actually ok since it’s too hot for little paws during the middle of the day anyways.
2. Walk at the Park
We have to spell the word walk and park unless we are seriously leaving the house. Chuy knows these words and will run right to the front door! I’m not a huge fan of dog parks (unless they have a small dog side) which I’ll leave for another post.
3. Plant Pet Friendly Flowers
Summer is a great time to plant some dog friendly flowers in your backyard or patio. Check out our Dog Friendly Container Garden post.
4. Make Frozen Dog Treats
Frozen dog treats are a fun and irresistible way to stay cool in the summer. Check out our Ultimate Guide to Frozen Dog Treats for recipe ideas and inspiration!
5. Take a Dog Friendly Road Trip
I love taking road trips with Chuy! There are so many pet friendly destinations out there and summer is the best time to pack up and find some adventure. Need ideas? Check out our Ultimate Guide to Dog Friendly Vacations.
6. Binge Watch TV Indoors
If it’s too hot or raining outside, take some time to binge watch your favorite shows. I am obsessed with my Amazon Prime membership which gives me access to thousands of free shows!
7. Picnic at the Park
Pack a lunch and do a picnic in the park!
8. Bike Riding
If you have a small dog like a Chihuahua, you can do some bike riding. I put Chuy in the front basket whenever we ride bikes.
9. Go Kayaking with Your Dog
This is my favorite summer time activity! I especially love kayking with Chuy. Check out our Must Have Gear for Kayaking with a Chihuahua and how to create a DIY GoPro Harness for Chuy Chihuahua.
10. Go Fishing/Crabbing
Whenever we go kayaking, we usually do a little bit of fishing and crabbing too. Nothing tastes better than fresh seafood!
11. Hiking
Find a dog friendly hiking trail and go exploring with your dog!
12. Eat Lunch at a Dog Friendly Restaurant
Most restaurants that offer outdoor seating are dog friendly. Always find out in advance.
13. Swimming
Some dogs love swimming and some hate it. I really want to get a pool for our backyard. Chuy is not a fan of swimming at the beach but not sure if he would enjoy a pool or not. Maybe if he has a float?!
14. Shop at the Farmer’s Market
We have an outdoor Farmer’s Market here where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables . . . and a few other cool things. Since it’s outside, it’s dog friendly. Yay!
15. BBQ in the Backyard
No better way to enjoy fresh corn than grilling it outside during a BBQ!
16. Play Fetch Outside
I love to play fetch with Chuy in our backyard and at the beach!
17. Celebrate a Dog Birthday
Chuy’s birthday is June 22nd. This year we celebrated in Phoenix at the BlogPaws conference. Be sure to read our Ultimate Guide to Dog Birthday Cake Recipes.
18. Go Out for Dog Friendly Ice Cream
Did you know that places like Dairy Queen and Starbucks offer “Pup Cups?”
19. Go on a Shopping Spree!
When it’s too hot to walk outside, I love taking trips to PetSmart with Chuy. He gets to exercise by walking the aisles, socialize with other pets and people, and do a little shopping!
20. Take Lots of Pics!
There are no shortage of Chuy pics on my phone and computer! I love taking all of my digital photos and creating photo books and canvas prints. This is a great way to get those pics off your devices and into your hands for many years.

I just stumbled upon your website tonight. I love your list of ideas. I take my two dogs, Charley and Zoey, camping with me, tent style. I’ve only had them for two years (and their only two years old!), but they’re getting the hang of it quick and are starting to enjoy it more!

That’s awesome!

I love this bucket list! Lamenting that it’s already August I felt so inadequate, but I looked through your list and realized that I HAVE done 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 18. I haven’t done enough of 11 or 12 and I have yet to do 5 or 9 (road tripping, which we always do lots of in Summer, and getting my dogs OUT on the water!). I hope to do 17; Phoebe’s birthday is in August and Icy’s birthday is in October. so I’m thinking September for a double birthday pawty! It’s so funny, your header photo of Chuy under the dock at low tide looks just like a photo I took recently for my Dogs Love The Beach post – I don’t suppose your photo was taken in NY, was it? It’s probably from beautiful VA beach. It’s such a cool photo! If it would ever cool down, I could make so much headway through this list, LOL!! I’m thinking Fall is gonna be our window for outdoor anything this year.

I hear you on that. I haven’t done much outdoors this summer and it’s driving me crazy. It’s just been way too hot for anyone and especially dogs! I’m so ready for cool fall weather!
