We discovered a new dog friendly park in our area this summer called Oak Grove Lake Park in Chesapeake, VA. It’s not a new park – it’s just new to us! I love finding new places to explore. It’s been so hot this summer that we haven’t been outdoors as much. I really miss that time because it helps me wind down from a stressful day and I love the memories we get to make with Chuy and Catalina. I haven’t blogged as much this summer but we post daily on Instagram – so be sure to follow us there and say hello!
The park has a trail which is a 1.5 mile circle that goes around the lake. There are several platforms located around the trail where you can stop to fish or snap a beautiful pic. Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite pics of Chuy at Oak Grove.
There’s a nice little area with a beach and picnic tables. We stopped there to take a quick break. Chuy met a Chihuahua puppy while we were walking. I wish I would’ve taken a picture of the two of them!
This is a statue of a fish and dragon fly which is in front of the park sign. You can see this from the interstate which is what sparked us to figure out what this park was all about.
Towards the end of the trail there is a little dock. It almost looks like at some point maybe you could have launched a kayak from here? If so, it would be a great place to kayak with Chuy!
I love getting outdoors, discovering new places with Chuy. I’m pretty sure he loves it too. I mean look at that face!
I just love the gorgeous views of the water especially during sunset.
When Chuy gets tired he can take a break by riding under Catalina’s stroller! He gets in and out of there all on his own. I love having a place for him to take a break since we don’t like him to go too hard due to his IVDD.

Hi Aimee!
Chuy is adorable! I also like taking my dog to adventures around my town. I recently took my Spitz hiking with me to the outskirt of the town. The hike was an hour long with a refreshing view. He loved it. And I am loving your pictures of the sunset and of Chuy smiling !
keep posting! XX

That place seems amazing! It looks like Chuy loved it too!
It is important to walk our pets beside rivers and to take them on natural places because of the fresh air and because it relieves them of city pressure and vibrations… The nature can really unwind them just as it does us, humans.

That is such a good point. I love being outdoors away from technology and the hustle and bustle.

Wonderful place! It seems like you guys are extremely good at finding amazing spots for a fun time with our canine friends. The natural beauty of this place is stunning. I can understand why Chuy looked so cheerful there!
