Everything in Virginia Beach is referred to as either the South Side or the Peninsula. To reach the Peninsula side, you have to drive across the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel. On the other side of the water are three cities, Hampton, Newport News, and Williamsburg. A few weekends ago we headed over to the Peninsula for a change of scenery. We went for a walk at Fort Monroe along the seawall. We hadnt walked here with Chuy since he was a puppy! Its actually a really nice walk and Id love to do this more often.
We parked at The Chamberlin to begin our walk. There was a wedding about to start outdoors and this is one of the venues we looked at when we were planning our wedding in 2010!
Chuy always reminds us to stop and smell the roses . . . or whatever flowers are around!
Fort Monroe is jam packed with history and used to be a functioning army base but was decommissioned in 2011 and is now open to the public.
Theres a nice seawall that wraps around the Chesapeake Bay from the parking lot and goes on for miles. Its all paved so it makes for a really nice walk with or without a dog.
There are two piers connected to the Fort Monroe Seawall. One is a functioning fishing pier and the other is closed off to the public. Either way, its a great place to watch the boats passing by and the occasional dolphin sighting!
Im pretty sure this is the face of pure happiness of a well lived irresistible life! (Or maybe Chuy is just hot lol)
Half way through the walk, there is access to a small beach called Outlook Beach. During the summer season, no dogs are allowed. Boo!
If you keep walking youll run into a really fun outdoor club called the Paradise Ocean Club. In my non-pregnant summers, I love coming to this place and grabbing a drink (or 2 or 3) on the beach! Next summer!
OMG, Im really starting to show and Im getting bigger by the day!
As we were ending our walk, Chuy met a new friend!
We ended the day by driving up to the Prime Outlets in Williamsburg and I did my first shopping trip at Motherhood Maternity! Oh and there was also a impromptu stop at Auntie Annes. THAT hit the spot! So much so, that there was no time for pics! I hope youre having an irresistible summer so far! Let us know in the comments what youve been up to.

I’ll have to take a day trip there. I believe the last time I was at Ft. Monroe was at a field trip in Jr High many moons ago.
Irresistible Pets says
You should! It’s such a nice and peaceful walk!

Looks like Chuy had a great time! And it’s fun to see parts of VA since we’re over here in Oregon. Congrats on your almost new addition too π

What? No dogs on the beach!? Lol! Oh well, it looks like you and Chuy had a fantastic time exploring all the other attractions.

Yea, pretty much all the beaches here ban dogs during the summer. We love the off season anyways when it cools off and the tourists go home!

That looks like it was a fun day. We used to go on walks at the Montage in Laguna Beach. I think I’ll have to start doing that again with the doggies or maybe take a trip to dog beach. We’re lucky to have a year round dog beach near our home.
